My Background
I wrote prose a lot as a child and for a long time was also mildly interested in art. The “art hoe” trend of Tumblr spreading all over my on-site dashboard inspired me to start looking into proper art supplies, spending more time on my own drawings, and had me seeking art out in the real world, going to galleries and beginning artistic ruminations.
Starting in September 2016 I decided I wanted to begin taking my own art seriously, and I chose to start putting serious time and thought into my efforts. About this time, though I’m not sure before or after, I began writing poetry as well when I heard that Kurt Cobain wrote poetry before writing song lyrics. I wanted to do both so I thought starting with poetry would help me expand later.
What this space is used for?
Subject to change, I was thinking of using my Substack to break down poems I’ve had published, share secrets I’ve embedded in my art and catalogue things like conceptually connected pieces and the collages I’ve created over the covers of my sketchbooks.
